Dear LM_NET:

Our school would like to hear from any other school that "levels" or
weights classes toward graduation. We presently have classes that
are given points based on difficulty, for example,in an English class,
level 4 (which would represent college prep level) an A would be
worth 5 points instead of 4 when computing GPA, in English, level 3
an A is worth 4 points and in English, level 2 an A is worth 3
points. We do this in other classes as well.

We are looking at alternatives to this that would reward students for
taking the more difficult classes but not penalize other students and
classes. The biggest problem we have found is that the top students
refuse to take classes that are not level 4, even when they should,
so some classes are suffering from poor enrollment.

We would appreciate hearing from anyone who is doing something
similar or simply has a thought on the issue. We are looking for all
points of view.

Write me directly.
TIA.
