On the issue of OPAC furniture: We started with six sit-down stations. The kids wouldn't budge. They sat and played, but never got up to find a book (this was before we added CDs). So I ordered stand-up stations. That eliminated some of the problem even when we posted time limits. Then in rolls three students in wheelchairs--never thought about this! Quickly ordered 2 sit-down stations that will accommodate CD drives, too (a bit bigger than a terminal-only station). This accommodated everyone physically. Then we added CDs to our net. Some of these searches can take time, so the rule now is that the Sit-down stations are for handicapped and students doing complex searches. Stand up stations are for quick location of books and short, easy searches on CD indexes. BTW, we added one more sit-down station this year. Nine stations that cover all bases.
