?International system

Hello LM_Netters.  I volunteer in the reference section of our
county library one night a week and last night a question came
up that no one could answer.  I know you'll be able to help us
out.  Is there an international system of classification?  Is
Dewey used worldwide?  One girl is from Australia and she says
Dewey is used there but we all wondered about the rest of the
world.   How about it?  TIA!  Please email me direct and I'll
