Dear Michelle and lm_net members, Re: The question of backup for web demo **************************************************************************** * Michele wrote: We will be doing a netscape demo in a few weeks. Is there a way to save urls to a disk in case there is a problem with the connection? This is for a macintosh, so any directions you can give me would be appreciate? Also is ther a way to save bookmarks to a disk so that the url is there and they can be used? Thanks, Michele *************************************************************************** You can save your bookmarks to a disk by exporting them to a 3.5" diskette. In my version of Netscape there is a view bookmarks function. Once selected you can edit your bookmarks, and from here you can export them to a diskette. I do this for training purposes and to keep a backup of my bookmarks. I would think this is true whether you use an IBM or MAC version of Netscape. I use the 1.22 version, but I believe this capability was included in the version preceding this one as well. BUT......... You might also consider purchasing The Educator's World Wide Web book (INCLUDES CD-ROM with screen captures of key educational web sites) from the Classroom Connect folks. The book is excellent and the CD-Rom would come in handy when a connection fails. About 200 web sites are included. The cost of the book is $39.00. Classroom Connect has their own web page and you can probably order it right through the page or else get ordering information. By the way, this is a great resource for K-12! They have tons of great links and useful information, like Acceptable Use Policies FAQ,etc. You can mail them at connect@wentworth.com Classroom Connect: http://www.wentworth.com PS: I am not employed by Classroom Connect, but they are absolutely the best source of resources on integrating the Internet--videos, books, web site, Classroom Connect monthly journal.....
