Gen: Keeping tabs on remotes

Dear Netters,
A continual problem that occurs in my schools is the misplacing of remote
controls for various equipment. I have tried velcro but that isn't very
secure. I would appreciate any ideas others have used successfully to help.
I thought of the telephone like cords but am not sure how to attach them
and where to get something like that...Any ideas?
