ELEM-Ancient civilization map skills

The sixth grade teacher at one of my schools was complaining that her
children can never figure out where Mesopotamia, The Fertile Crescent, etc.
is.  Now that they have a media specialist who is eager to plan with the
teachers and integrate skills with the curriculum, she asked me to plan a
couple of lessons so that the children will be able to locate Mesopotamia,
etc.  Does anyone have any ideas for this?
