GEN:Looking for an author

This will sound vague but I thought I'd try anyway. A teacher came in
today with this scenario. She was listening to a talk radio show this
summer. A person named Phyllis was giving a talk about education books
she recommends teachers to read. Phyllis apparently is a newspaper columnist.
The question is, does anyone know who that was and where we can get a
list of the books she recommended? Any help you can give would be
appreciated.
