Dallas, TX/School Standards Meetings

You are invited to attend meetings about school library
standards in Dallas and Richardson.  The meetings will be
conducted by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission
for the purpose of soliciting input for the new library
standards being developed.

When:   Tuesday, April 30, 1996
Time:   3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Where:  Dallas ISD, Administration Bldg.

When:   Wednesday, May 1, 1996
Time:   3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Where:  Education Service Center, Region 10
        400 E. Spring Valley
        Richardson, TX
Host:   ESC Region 10

Please share this with all interested persons.  Parents,
administrators, and librarians are encouraged to bring
their views. Meetings like this are being held all over
the state.  It is important for schools in the area to
have input before the standards are written.  Come prepared
to share with Jeanette Larson, Texas State Library, Library
Development Division, your views of what the new standards
should contain.

The legislature transferred library standards from the Texas
Education Agency to the Texas State Library and Archives
Commission, in consultation with the State Board of Education.
After receiving input from the public, the new standards will
be written.  Public input will be solicited again before the
final version is submitted to the State Board of Education.
