Dear Netters, I love the idea of having an international internet Christmas tree. Our first tree was as overwhelming success last year. So once again, I am asking for Christmas greetings from all 50 states and as many countries as possible. Messages sent in native languages, in addition to English, are particularly encouraged! For our December community project, a large Christmas tree in our Media Center will be decorated with white doves of peace cutout ornaments which our students have already created. Each dove will have a printed greeting from one of You(!) attached to it, then laminated, strung with red ribbon, and hung on the tree. A large world map will be displayed on an easel nearby, pinpointing the location of senders with dove stickers. Our goal is to visually demonstrate the power of the net for our students, staff, and community. My students and I are very excited about this project, and hope to hear from as many of you as soon as possible. Burrillville Middle School is located in the northwestern corner of Little Rhody, with 850 students enrolled in grades 6-8. Thanks in Advance for your consideration. May we all hear the sounds of peace this holiday season! Sherry Nelson (ride0459@ride.ri.net) Media Specialist Burrillville Middle School 2220 Bronco Highway Harrisville, RI 02830 (401) 568-1320
