Foreign lang word processing

I'm sorry to bother you with this type of request, but you know how we
(librarians) are - always trying to help our teachers.
I have a French teacher who needs some help. It is so cumbersome for his
students to type French dialogue on the Windows95 machine. Is there a
macro program to help with the accents or a French word processing
program?  We would certainly appreciate any help. Please respond to the
