Oh Wise Ones: Hooray! We're going to have internet access in our one-computer classrooms after Christmas! I'd like to develop a list of 20 or so recommended sites for our 1st through 5th graders to visit. Our AUP requires adult supervision and I thought that this would be a safe, easy way for our teachers to allow children to experience the web. Our thinking is that for the time being, students can access these sites only from our home page--only teachers are allowed to surf till we all get our feet wet. Please send me any dazzling sites you can share. I'm looking for things like the Sea World Site, CELLS Alive (http://www.comet.chv.va.us/quill),Socks' special VIP tour of the White House , Make your own Slime (http://ucunix.san.uc.edu/~edavis/kids-list/crafts.html), Pathfinder for Kids that takes you to Sports Illustrated and Time for Kids. So many of the sites I have explored are lists to other sites which are lists to other sites and when I finally get to an actual useful page it just doesn't look like it would excite an elementary child. Please email me sites your students are excited about and of course, I'll post a hit. Thanks! Susan Brown smbrown@bmtc.mindspring.com Westside Elementary School Cedartown, GA
