GEN: Stop Posting Houghton Mifflin Offer, Etc.

Dear Colleagues,

  Please stop reposting the HMC Free Books Offer. Their goal has been
accomplished, and they are well on their way to entering the Hall of
Internet Legends.

  Please let this be a reminder to all who are new to a discussion group,
or who do not read all its messages, to exercise caution before posting an
"urgent" message.  Perhaps someone else has already posted the very same
information (in fact, several times, in this case.)

  Also, please keep in mind that the HMC Free Books offer is a commercial
message, and should be cleared for posting with the LM_NET Owners and the
LM_NET Hospitality Committee.

  One way to find out if your urgent message has been posted is to check
the archives. The LM_NET Archives are accessible through the LM_NET Page
