We have had remote access from our local public library into our library catalog only for several years. In addition we have remote access for our students into our library catalog and 3 CD ROM products that are networked in our building , Those publishers have agreed it is not a violation of copyright if our students use them from home or from school. Remote users do have to buy the software that "matches" ours (PCAnywhere) and fill out forms agreeing not to try to wreck our system. It does work really well. We have 50-60 families who use it (PC only no MAC available for us). > We are not physically able to offer remote Internet access, but it is not currently a goal.
