Dear Netters, I spent almost 2 years retropecting the high school library media center and automating with Follett'unison. I am quite pleased with the results. The Elementary/Middle School LMC is located in the same building approximately 1000 feet away. The people on high have determinedthat automating the elem/ms lmc should be my next project. I have been in contact with my salesman and he visited me 2 weeks ago. The high school has its own server , 2 work stations, circ station, and maintaince station with a Novelle network. We would ideally like the same thing in the elem/m.s. lmc. Now comes the problem--Follett says if I use the same server, I could use the same software if I run cable to the Elem/Ms. On the other hand, I could never recover the statistics for each lmc. The collection would be integrated except for a holdings code on the elementary. The person who sold me the hardware for the high school project stopped the other day--we have been discussing this previously. He would like to upgrade the system to windows and take out the Novelle network and put in a better system. He says Novell is now in a state of confusion. He has been very good with our projects. We have not converted any records, this has to be done anyway. The high school was done using an extraction from WISCAT, but the elem/ms lmc recordsare not on WISCAT. I know I have my work cut out with 6000 items to be converted. I would like to be up and running by May 1. Any advise or help would be most appreciated. -- Ron Klitzkie, District Library Media Specialist School District of Random Lake, WI randomrk@llwisc.wecb.org 414-994-9193 414-994-4820 (fax) -- Ron Klitzkie, District Library Media Specialist School District of Random Lake, WI randomrk@llwisc.wecb.org 414-994-9193 414-994-4820 (fax)
