I have been thinking of putting labels on the spines of Easy Readers (probably books at the 1st and early 2nd grade level) to make them easy to find. I have also thought of segregating them on a special shelf. We already do this soom, as I have a lot of the easy to read paperbacks spread out on top of a low book shelf, but they are not labeled "Easy" in any way. We have quite a few more titles in hardback that are mixed into the library collections in other places. We have a lot of students in the upper grades who are very low readers as well as the 1-2 graders who are using these. The question is...If you have done either one of these things, do the older (3-5 grade) students who are reading at this level feel comfortable checking them out when they are advertised for all to see as "Easy"? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jean Townes, Media Specialist townesj@PEAK.ORG Waverly Elementary School Phone: 503-967-4617 Greater Albany Public Schools 425 Columbus Albany, Or 97321 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
