Thanks for all of your responses, and I apologize for taking so long to post a hit. Two LMS faxed/sent me samples of CD-Rom cataloging, for which I am eternally grateful. There is also an excellent sample in the Follett CD-Rom catalog, which I learned about from George Piattoni of Follett. A few people asked that I send them a sample of a MARC record. If you don't have the Follett CD-Rom catalog, please email me and I'll send you a copy. I've included the email address for each in case you want to contact him/her directly: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You must have received a Follett CD-ROM catalog last September - light tan with paper swan artwork. Page #6 has a sample MARC record for the CD-ROM Creative Writer. If you can not locate I could FAX over a sample record. *********************************************************** George Piattoni - Follett Library Resources - 800.435.6170 ext. 224 4506 Northwest Highway, Crystal Lake, IL. ISBN 0-8389-7736-7 It can be purchased from ALA, and I paid $18 for it. At the time, that seemed like a lot, but it has really been worth it. Good luck! Kathy Peterson West Chester, Ohio Shawnee Elementary LASE_KP@po.swoca.ohio.gov -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Have you looked at mitinet/MARC? This cataloguing software provides the proper format without you having to know typetags or any other confusing stuff like that. e-mail Hank Epstein at mitinet@msn.fullfeed.com and ask him for more details and a demo disk. You will be amazed at how easy it is. Also, they are coming out with version 5 which will include a spell checker!!!! Terrific stuff. I do all of my inhouse MARC records using mitinet and import them into Columbia Library System. The records slip in without a hitch. You have to see this software to believe it! After seeing what we've done, you may have questions, so feel free to call. Our situation is a little different in that we are at a County Office of Ed., and do not serve students directly, but rather, their teachers who very often place their requests via phone. What I'm saying is that we do not have alot of foot traffic, but do ship out alot of stuff. Kathy Graves kgraves@sisnet.ssku.k12.ca.us IMC Director/Librarian phone: 916-842-8427 Siskiyou Co. I'm home so I don't have the URL available, but I did that and they do have some with all the info in the right spots.
