Hello Iren (and LM_NET),

This is for the purpose of clarifying my earlier posting regards to the
commercial announcement that appeared twice on LM_NET recently.

I am sorry to say that I was a bit hasty in responding to Iren's posting.
I did not realize that she was reposting an announcement that she had
received (either in its earlier appearance on LM_NET or elsewhere.)

We have seen an increase in commercial mis-use of LM_NET, and I have been
a bit over sensitive when I see such postings. I reacted without carefully
appraising her posting. I am sorry for any embarrassment that it may have
caused.

This brings to mind a possible procedure for posting recommendations of
Internet resources. Perhaps we should try to recommend only those
resources that we have obtained, visited, observed, much like a book is
evaluated for a review, etc.

In any event, I would like to invite Iren to rejoin LM_NET, and please
accept my apology.

   It is easy to re-subscribe to LM_NET.  If you follow the instructions
below, you should not have any trouble joining.  (Tip: be sure to type the
address _exactly_ as shown.) Please let me know if you need any more
assistance.


  To re-subscribe to LM_NET, just do this:

1.  Send an e-mail message to:  listserv@listserv.syr.edu

2.  In the first line of the message, type:

    SUBSCRIBE LM_NET Firstname Lastname

    (Of course, you would substitute your actual name for Firstname
     Lastname in the line, such as

       "SUBSCRIBE LM_NET Joan Doe"    (No quotes necessary.)


   The way LM_NET is handling requests for membership is being handled
   automatically by the Syracuse University listserv computer and software.
   The LM_NET listserv computer will respond with an informative message,
   which will ask you for a confirmation.  You will then be added if you
   properly follow the directions (which are pretty easy.)
