This question is not strictly library related, however I'm sure every = school district grapples with it. In spite of strict penalties for = violating the NO smoking rules (ranging from in-school to several days = of out of school suspension) students continue to smoke in the rest rooms. In fact, there seems to = have been an increase in the number of student smokers recently. All of = our school grounds are drug free, so a designated smoking area is out of = the question.=20 Our principal would like to address the root cause by forming a student = wellness/anti-smoking group to focus peer pressure on the problem. Have = any of your schools tried such an approach? Did it work and if so, what = methods were used? Does anyone have any success stories to share?
