Mary,
        There's a whole series of booklets (with related activity books,
posters,etc) put out by Empak.  The booklets come at two reading levels (RL
3 or 4 and RL 6 or so).  Each set has historic black women, black scientists
and inventors, pioneers, civil rts leaders, abolitionists, African kings and
queens black firsts, blacks in the arts, in federal govt, and in education.
