Interesting to read the recent request for info on pros and cons of
multi-age classrooms since I have been asked by some faculty to
get in touch with other schools to find the same info on looping.
This is the term for staying with a class through two grade levels and
then the teacher "loops" back to do the same with another group.
Usuallly done with 1st-2nd and 3rd-4th. A search of the archives
shows some requests on the topic, but couldn't retrieve much real
comment. A look at the K-12 ADMIN listserv archive was pretty much the same
.

Our teachers (and I) are being asked to put in our comments on this as it
"may be required for grades 1-4 in the future. "

We are being asked what we like and what we dislike "other than the
fact that you may not want to do it".

HELP! We think we have as many good reasons not to do it as to do it, but
the "pros" get all the journal articles and publicity.

Like nearly every new trend in educationthat has been touted as the answer
to our problems, when it doesn;t pan out no one is writing about it's demise
. They are all writing about the next trend.
