TECH: Printer Switch Boxes

We have been installing several new computers in the library this week. I
have 3 computers connected to an auto switch box which is then connected to
the printer. In order to install the printer drivers I had to connect the
printer directly with the computer -- not through the switch box. When I
tried to print a test message (through the switchbox), nothing happened.
The computer said it preparing the document, but the switchbox never
received it, and the print manager said the printer was idle. I have set
dip switches (I have been using one of these switchboxes (connecting 4
computers to 1 printer) with no problems but this new setup just doesn't
seem to work. I'm stumped. Any ideas?
