As you may have seen on the news, parts of NW PA were severely flooded July 18-19. Clarion, Jefferson, and Armstrong Counties were particularly affected and are now federal disaster areas. The school district where I was the school media specialist has lost their jr-sr high school. The name of the district is Redbank Valley in New Bethlehem, PA. The building is still standin, but it has to be entirely gutted and the entire school library was lost. This was a technologically advanced library that contained 16,000 volumes of print material. So in addition to losing all of their computers and networks, they have no books or magazines. I have been asked to assist in their effort to rebuild, and I wanted to seek your sage wisdom because I know that some of you have experienced disasters where you live. What steps did you take to start over? BTW, if you want to help, they need money and advice, because for quite some time they wouldn't have any place to put anything else. You can contact me on LM_NET or via snail mail at: Andrea L. Miller Department of Library Science Clarion University of PA Clarion, PA 16214 amiller@vaxa.clarion.edu Thanks in advance for all of your help. I always know that I can rely on you people.
