Hello. I am seeking a position as a Library Media Specialist or
Assistant LMS in a secondary school. I recently graduated from the
University of Texas at Austin with an M.L.I.S. and a Learning Resources
Endorsement (school librarian certification). I also hold secondary
English certification, though I am not interested in a classroom
situation at this time.

During a practicum in a middle school library, I gained hands-on
experience in mastering many of the tasks necessary to the effective
operation of such a facility. By interacting with the students, I
developed communication skills through which I am able to instruct
students in the proper use of the library and assist them with locating
resources. I also developed good rapport with the faculty and feel at
ease collaborating with teachers.

I believe that my strong technology skills will also prove beneficial to
a library media center. I am experienced at conducting online searches
using tools such as Dialog and Infotrac. I am also familiar with Internet
protocols, including the World Wide Web, and I am excited about helping
teachers incorporate these into their lessons.

I am a flexible, friendly person with a good sense of humor, and I am
very eager to begin a career as a school librarian. If you are seeking
such an individual (or know someone who is), I would appreciate your
letting me know.

Thank you,

David C. Leviton
