ELEM: lkg for a good science encyclopedia (reprise)

I'm getting lots about animal encyclopedias and will shortly post a hit.

My question now is:
        Do you have a general science encyclopedia that you recommend?  What
do you find the kids use it for?  Or is it better to get a good general
encyclopedia?  What reference sources do your kids go to for science
questions??
