REF: Manchild in the promised Land

I have a teacher who would like to know the origin of the phrase Manchild in the
promised land.  We know it is the biography of Claude Brown. We have looked in
Bartlett's.  Other resources aren't readily available at my school. Any help you
can give me ASAP will be greatly appreciated. (She needs this info by this
