One of my English teachers had a student turn this poem
in as an original poem. She has her doubts. Do any of you
recognize this poem?
There is unrest in the forest.
There is trouble with the trees,
For there mounts a great distrubance,
that no one seems to see.

There is trouble in the forest,
A great fear among the trees,
        As Nature cries for mercy,
But the foe ignores their pleas.

        It started with the sycamore
        merrily dancing in the sun,
        Once a party of many
Is now soon to be just one.

        The forest cries tonight
        The wolf mourns in call
        All succumb to silence
        As another maple falls

        Even the great redwood
Now rests on the froest bed,
As the willow weeps her tears
And the oaks just shake their heads.

So the trees formed an army
To defend their god given rights.
        Thou art wicked and unjust
We shall not fall without a fight.

But nothing seems to stop it,
        No conscience,voice, or law.
        Man just keeps on cutting
        With his hatchet,ax, and saw.
