TARGET:??School provide ea.student with free computer diskette???

We are a middle school, 700+ students with a computer classroom, computer lab
in media center and 24 computers on carts for classroom use.
Our principal has purchased a computer disk for each student for indiv. use
in school.
If your school has done this do you have any advice??
1.  Do you store disks at school?  If so where?  Who is in charge?
2.  Do you charge for replacement disks if lost or damaged?  What's cost?
3.  ???????
