Hello World of LMers!!

Don't you just LOVE this forum for public debate?........a shining example
of our 1st amendment rights!!

Some say PO is a cuss word, some are not offended. Some say phone calls
after midnight are discourteous harrassment, others don't see a problem.
Peter Milbury suggested that we write Miss Manners or Ann or Abby to see
what THEY say about the PO word. I bet they have a Website.....and I personally
will make it my mission to check!! While we're at it we should ask them
about BOTH......PO..........and..............after hours calling!! During
the meantime, as we're awaiting their verdict (if their OPINIONS could
really be considered representative), let's just use abbreviations or polite
synonyms for questionable terms.....and keep away from the phones after business
hours!!!!

Perceptions, interpretations, and uses of language vary with culture,
generation, the times...what was once considered vulgar may now be used as a
matter of course.

If one person objects to a book on your shelves.........are you
going to remove it immediately and without review from your collection?? On
the other hand, I wouldn't plant Catcher in the Rye in a church library,
either!! ......And I probably wouldn't cuss around the Pope.....

Angry calls after midnight may offend some, others may actually enjoy them,
who knows?? Last time I checked those accused of a "crime" were still given
an opportunity to stand up and put things straight. Maybe we'll never know
the "whole" story on this one......

Personally, I hang up on those to whom I do not
wish to speak.....and I delete the messages I do not wish to read.
I don't think anyone wants LM Net to become a "cuss fest"......... or a
forum for disciplinarianism.......but..... Isn't it funny how the first
amendment gives EQUAL protection to ALL?? Maybe we can find a middle
ground....!!?
