I'm doing a practicum in a middle school this quarter. The social studies teacher for 8th grade is in the process of "inventing" a world history class for his students. Apparently, the curriculum changed this year and he was caught with a book that only lasted for 3/4 of the year. Does anyone have any great ideas for units, materials, or activities that would be appropriate for middle school students? The stuff he's found so far has all been for the high school level, and he would rather have material written for middle schoolers. Of course, he realizes that he may end up simplifying some of the units he's found for next year. He is supposed to cover world history from 1492-1815 in one school year with 8th graders. He also mentioned having a particularly difficult time finding things on the Renaissance (sp?). Thanks in advance Sara Wolf Dayton, OH S002sew@nova.wright.edu
