REF:Calendar days book

Our 8th grade S.S. instructor assigns the students a current events project where 
they need to choose a calendar day ex. Dec. 6 and research events that happened 
during that day. (any year) I use Famous First Facts by Kane, Wilson Co.  as a 
starter for them.  They at least get a list of "firsts"of the day.  My biggest 
problem is that they need to write a short summary of the event and that can be 
somewhat difficult.  Does anyone else have a suggestion for another reference book 
that has calendar dates with maybe more info?  Thanks so much.
