Paula, Hi, I guess I disagree with you. What are you all calling disadvantages of flexible scheduling? We practice flexible scheduling and we circulate an average of 200 books a day in a primary k-3 school of about 435. Our K-5 students are not checking out independently as yet. Their teachers get enough for the entire class to keep in the room for a week and then change. I suspect that they will allow the students to begin to do this on their own soon. I am ready when they are. Flexible scheduling has certainly helped us with the Accelerated Reading Rrogram.
