Leave them on the books! The only time you can keep them aside is if the
book itself is a duplicate of the cover.

Students are looking for bright and shiny! (This is the TV generation!)
When I took over a LMC that had removed the covers I promptly organized
some volunteers to put them back on! The shelf-sitters promptly started
circulating!
They also reduce the wear and tear on the book.

An economical way to cover book jackets is to run them through the
laminator. LEAVE at least TWO INCHES OF PLASTIC ALONG THE TOP AND BOTTOM
EDGE. Fold this under and tape in three places. Presto! New looking
books that repel dirt, water, etc.. Hope this helps
