TARGET: holiday book promotion

Dear Group,
I am looking for ideas, suggestions, etc. for book promotion for middle
school students.  I'd like to do something "cool" just prior to the
December break to encourage students to check-out one or two books to
read over the holiday.  I'm thinking about reading aloud with seasonal
music playing in the background.  Can't afford to provide refreshments
to my 700+ students.  Any ideas on read aloud titles?  I'll post a HIT
in one week of all ideas I receive.  TIA
