TECH:Excel virus?

Does anyone know whether there is a macro virus which attacks EXCEL file,
similiar to the ones that attack Word 6.0?  If so, how do you protect against
it?

Something extremely weird just happened to a Excel file that I was working on.
I saved the file and up until that point everything was ok.  AThe problem
surfaced after I tried to reopen the file.
