Patti, the bar code has to go on the jacket. If you put it on the book,
it couldn't be scanned. If you put it on the mylar cover, it has to be
cut off when you put new mylar on the dust jacket. I put mine on the
front of the dust jacket, parallel to the spine, the eye-readable part
facing me, under the mylar cover. I too change mylar covers as they need
it and the bar code is still on the jacket. I also write the bar code
number on the title page or put the eye-readable strip there if I get one
from the vendor.
