I place the bar code on the inside of the front cover. I realize that one has to open the book to scan it but the bar codes are never damaged or worn and this has worked quite well. I do cover all paper jackets and leave them on the books. I am in a K-5 school of 450 kids. Laura Manthey San Jose, CA lsmant@aol.com
