I have used Winnebago for 5 years now and love it! We use it on IBM
compatible format and it is networked thoroughout our building on NOVELL--or
could be, if the principal would allow it! For some unknown reason he only
wants the Jostens lab available in the rooms. I have four look-up and one
work stations in the MC with WInnebago and a CD-ROM tower with 3 drives.
(The students have a choice of catalog, CD encyclopedia or flavor of the
month educational software in the MC ONLY!). Winnebago has recently come out
with an upgrade that will allow IBM and MAC to simultaneously use Winnebago
in a network. This would be great if you have both Mac and IBM networks in
your school, or stand alone machines of either type that could be hooked up.

My only critical comment of Winnebago are picky aspects of the software.
Such as you are only allowed to search or sort on A,T,S,C#,barcode in
materials maintenace or in "reports"--what they call ANYTHING invovling
printing. I frequently have a need to search and print lists of materials by
FUNDING and DATE ENTERED for our system's statistical gathering...I get
around this by adding a "SUBJECT" that lists funding etc. ie LOTTERY, XYZ
Grant, etc.

Their support is excellent and VERY friendly,. They will walk you through
the whole process of switching or upgrading. Excellent workshops. Our city
system uses Follett and they are down more often than up...3 years down at
the highschool! They use a yellow pad and pencil for circulation!!
       Good Luck
