Thanks so much for all your help! TV Ator and AverKey 3 seemed to be popular because you can zoom in on the text to make it readable. I will enclose the responses I have received. This is my second year as a Library Media Specialist. I would be lost without all your advise and comments. It is nice to know that the things I have been experiencing have been experienced by others and that there are solutions. I love my job. I work in an isolated community and it is nice to have a support group that is easily accessed through the Internet! Evelyn Bergstrom Library Media specialist Lincoln County High School Eureka, Montana eurimc2@homer.libby.org ********************************** I like the TV Ator, because you can zoom in on the text to make it readable. I did a workshop last year on the internet using=7F it. One of the participants said later that when he walked in and saw the TV hooked up, he thought, Oh, no, another one of those workshops whereI won't be able to read the screen. He was pleasantly surprised when he COULD read the text! It works with both Mac and Pc. You just need to change the cable. -- Kathy Lafferty klaffert@pen.k12.va.us Library Media Specialist Patrick Henry Elementary School Alexandria, VA ********************************* I purchased an AITECH converter and was never able to get the promised support on it. It works fairly well, but could have worked for me even better had the company responded to my email or messages on their answering machine. I would not buy one of their products again. Mary Carter Forbush High School East Bend, NC 27014 mcarter@bgsm.edu ********************************** I've been very please with my TVElite which is one of the cheaper converters around. I can't remember the name offhand, but it begins with an A.... I'll try to remember to check at school because I wrote the name down. I was at a meeting and was so impressed that I went up to the presenter at break to find out what he was using. Betty .----. Betty Hamilton, LRS | | 701 Cub Drive bhamilt@tenet.edu ____|* ~~~~~~. I am sure you can get this from almost any company that sells computer hardware. I am very pleased with it and have not had one problem in over a year's time and it can be used with Mac or PC. > Lennie Dahl, Jacobsen Junior High School Tehachapi, California jjhslib@tminet.com ********************************** I have TV Gamer Plus by SIIG and ProPC/TV Plus by AI Tech. I have been very satisfied with both. We have figured out how to hook them up to multiple TV's and even have a switch so we can go to the VCR and back to the computer. For only $300, it's a cheap and effective way to display what is on the monitor to a group (without turning the lights out!). I think it actually says Aver Key 3. It requires NO installation software so you can use it on any machine and is very inexpensive comparatively. Ours was less that $300 a year ago--price may have dropped since then. Good for text as well as graphics. Vickye Drury FWISD Library Media Services 100 N. University Dr. Ft. Worth, Tx 76107 vdrury@tenet.edu ************************************ We have an AITech "pocket scan converter" PSC-1106. Our superintendent bought it for, I believe, under $150. It *requires* a monitor with an RCA input. I've used it once, and found the TV picture adequate for my needs. I've seen an AVERkey used at workshops. It works well. Prices vary according to features--maybe $350 for a nice one. ( I know there was a thread recently, maybe on Edtech rather than LM_Net, about the poor resolution these converters provide. My school just doesn't have the $1800+++ for an LCD panel.) >Cindy Carr, Librarian Cleveland High School=09 >home e-mail: wccarr@ionet.net 600 N.
