I absolutely agree with Gary Hartzell's call for that seventh category for
AASL proposals, leadership.   Unless we effectively communicate the need for
information literacy, for excellent teaching staff, and for resources and
facilities to the people who make the "bottom line" decisions, we will find
our programs being eliminated because of competition for the educational
dollar.   We need to share the programs and approachs that have worked to
other schools, districts, and states, but we also have to share the effective
methods for increasing collaboration and show the connection between what
budget, time, and staff can do for a program and make that direct link
between programs that have these things and what schools that have them may
accomplish in children's education for the 21st century.
