Not as many students are using them as I would like because the CDs, like the internet, have so much that students don't really know how to handle it all. When we have our parent night or some other type of publicity, I'm going to invite the PARENTS to come up and look. After all, they are the ones who will be usually footing the bills for college. They may TAKE the time if they know the information is available. I had hoped that students would be willing to put in the time to sort through all of the data, but they haven't done that so far. Nevertheless, I feel that the $250 was well spent. I found all kinds of remote scholarships, grants, and work/study programs, as well as the standard ones that we all know about. For example, if your child is a descendent of someone in the Confederate army and he/she lives (born?) in Arkansas, he/she is eligible for $1000 -- or if your child is the son/daughter of a parent who was in a particular airborne group of the army, he/she is eligible for a scholarship. There is another scholarship for a female over 50 who is going back to school to upgrade her skills, and another for a female who wants to go to training to become a travel agent. The grants and scholarships are not confined to 4-year universities. I haven't had time to explore all of the possible combinations; these are just a few of those that I just ran across in trying the CDs out. You can see that there are *many* detailed opportunities -- you just have to be willing to sift through everything. Betty .----. Betty Hamilton, LRS | | 701 Cub Drive bhamilt@tenet.edu ____|* ~~~~~~.
