REF:Game playing literary characters

I am involved in a research project in which I need to find the names of
literary characters in books and/or stories, that engage in playing of games,
ala Alice in Wonderland and the playing cards and the chess game.  The types of
games desired are board games, card games and dice games.  The stories can be
folk tales, but must be for older teens and adults.

I particularly need to find examples of the following games:

Checkers or Draughts
Backgammon
Go
Pachisi (India)
Mancala or Mancula (Africa)

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
