Ok..here's one for you LAtin scholars. On the dollar bill (obverse) there is a pyramid with an eye at the top. The Latin tag says: Annuit Coeptis. My Latin Dictionaries tell me that this translates roughly to: Nodding (as in acceptance) (of) things that have been started or begun. The words are supposed to be from Vergil, according to Cassel's Latin Dictionary, but it does not say where in Vergil. Does any one out there know: 1. Where in Vergil this comes from? 2. Why it was chosen for the dollar bill? 3. The significance of the pyramid/eye? TIA for any and all help! Mark Williams Librarian Colton High School <mark_williams@eee.org>
