TECH-NetPrint in a lab

Dear Group,

I use NetPrint at home without a hitch, but when trying to load it on
our networked lab (PowerMacs 5400s) it caused a blanket freeze of all
machines.  I was trying to download it via NetAssistant.  Somehow in
this fiasco, over 50 extensions were lost and I had to do a major
re-cloning of the lab.  Is NetPrint not used in labs?  If so, how or
what is used to enable students to print only selected info from
internet sites.  (Help...the paper/toner cartridge use is
skyrocketing!)  Thanks for your help.
