        An excellent source for used PowerBooks is United Computer
Exchange.  Sellers post their equipment at the site for particpants to
bid on.  Highest acceptable bid by the seller wins.  The equipment is
sent to UCE for testing then sent to you.  I believe the URL is
http://www.uce.com/Exchange

        Models 520c or 540c (for color), 5300cs, ce, or 1400 should
work.  Be sure they have at least 16mb of RAM.  The 5300 model should
indicate that it has gone through Apple's warrantly replacement.  Great
prices for 520c are 750-1000, 540c 1100-1500, 5300 750-2000, and 1400
1500-3000 depending on options, equipment, and software.  Many will have
a modem.  Good Luck,
