The 40 or so responses I received were a tremendous help.
Majority said: Save them! I am to go back to school and look for an index
volume that covers mid '40s to '80s, and if one does not exist, I should
consider buying it. I also have been made awar the an internet site also
contains an index to cover the more current years the print index does not
cover.

Other mixed opinions--
toss them because they are rarely used
offer them to high schools to fill in gaps (they will use them more)
offer them to teachers for cutting, etc.
one person has also offered to buy some of the older issuest $$$, including
shipping and handling
one person suggested a use: The geography teachers have the students take
a country and get articles on the country that are at least 30 years apart
and then write about how things have changed (or stayed the same).

I haven't decided yet. I will give them this year to see how much use they
get, and I will consider binding them in increments of six months as
suggested--if a need for them shows itself. I will also get the index
volume and make folks aware of the homepage for curent info. Surely with
these extras and a little promotion, they will find themselves useful.

If after this year i decide to rid myself of the mass collection to opt for
more storage space, I will first offer to fill in gaps of area high schools,
then offer them up for grabs to any LM netters who are interested.
