Hello Friends, A few people asked for the results of my inquiry about good titles for self esteem. Here are the replies I got: Try any books by Kevin Henkes, Pfifer or the George and Martha books by Marshall. ___________________ I can't wait until I can have e-mail working at school! ... I think the author is Rylant - a book of short stories about animals. The titles running through my head all sound like that English vet. Anyway I have used the Rylant stories grades 4-6. The story I'm thinking of is "Slower than the rest" but the title of the book is something else. maybe has creatures in the title. __________________ For younger children The do-something day - author is gone from my short term memory. Sorry I may think of more tomorrow when I'm in school. ____________________ When will I read and other titles in the series by Cohen and Amazing Grace by Hoffman. ____________________ I really like Tacky the Penguin. It is fun and speaks to being true to yourself. Mirette on the High Wire ____________________ Try Hoffman's _Amazing Grace_. It is a picture book about a black girl who wants to be Peter Pan in the school play. I think older kids would like it, too. _______________________ There's the very old-fashioned _Little Engine that Could_. ________________________ Thanks again to all who replied! Hope everyone is off to a good start--or getting ready for a good start, anyway! ************************************************************************* Bonnie LaClave blaclav@in-motion.net Library Media Specialist Phone 765-436-2333 Thorntown Elementary Fax 765-436-2630 200 Mill Street Thorntown, Indiana 46071 ************************************************************************* =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= To quit LM_NET (or set NOMAIL or DIGEST), Send an email message to: listserv@listserv.syr.edu In the message write either: 1) SIGNOFF LM_NET or 2) SET LM_NET NOMAIL or 3) SET LM_NET DIGEST For more help see LM_NET On The Web: http://ericir.syr.edu/lm_net/ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
