Books: Zel by Napoli

I just finished reading this retelling of the Rapunzel tale.  It starts
out slow be the reader becomes entwined in the mindset of the three
characters.  The ending is powerful.  Does anyone have experience with
kids reading this?  Do they like it?  I wonder if students would enjoy
this type of thing.
