Just now reading some old email. Patricia asked for more ideas. I use
the video of Tuesday to kill to birds with one stone--it is a caldecott
medal winner and it is fiction. I show it, after explaining fiction and
nonfiction. I ask what it is fiction or non fiction. Then I hold up a
series of nonfiction books and fiction ones (such as frog Prince
Continued, Frog Medicine etc.) and ask the same question. The students
love the video and telling me what it is. I got hte video from Troll a
number of years ago.
