Hi all! While going through parts of the collection last week, I came across several "rare" books (100 years and older) in the 800's. Some are in decent condition, while a few are very worn. Generally, the books haven't been checked out in the last 20+ years, although one book went out last year to a student who also "stole" one library book and damaged another. A library aide suggested having a "rare book" shelf where we keep the books "away" from students so they can't be damaged or removed. Do any of you have such a situation? Should I just take the books to a used/rare books dealer? I would appreciate your comments/suggestions. Please respond to me directly. Thanks!
