GEN:< CAT:do you keep inventory?

my supervisor wants the library to catalog minimally all of the literacy
books that we are using as texts.  So we may have 30 of something kept in
the textbook closets instead of in the LRC.  Does anyone else do it?  Do
you bar code each one?  does staff use circ cards to sign out each volume?
Do you have a bar wand reader in the bookroom closet for staff to code out
each book?  i feel its a labor intensive job that won't really keep track
of everything the way he wants it.  he wants the job done...period.

any advice appreciated
